SCHENECTADY, NY -- Sophomore Steve Cohen (Chappaqua, NY/Horace Greeley) won both the one meter and three meter diving competitions to highlight Union's men's swimming & diving home meet vs. Middlebury. The Panthers won 174-103.
Cohen won the three meter dive with a score of 213.82, nearly 20 points better then the second place competitor. He also took first in the one meter dive with a score of 187.27, which was nearly 30 points better then the second place finisher.
Other winners for Union included Jack Honor (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh), who took first int he 1000 free with a time of 10:48.67. Kevin Kewin (Brockport, NY/Brockport) took the 100 back with a time of 56.98, and Shane Hubbell (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) was first in the 200 IM at 2:07.56.
The Union 200 free relay team won that event at 1:31.96, featuring Steve Schapp (Torrington, CT/Torrington), Todd Herman (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Shipley School), Honor and Kewin.
Union competes Sunday at Amherst at 2 p.m.
