SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Skidmore improved to 3-0 in the fall season by defeating visiting Union College 9-0. The Dutchwomen fell to 2-4 on the season.
Skidmore set the tone in doubles and maintained strong play in singles with a full team effort. Junior Stephanie Abrams had a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 singles and teamed with Senior Kyra Travis in doubles for an 8-0 victory. Freshmen Caroline Brown and Caroline Sherman stepped up and pulled out a 8-5 win at #3 doubles to clinch the doubles sweep.
Union's Kathleen Rucci (Schenectady, NY) battled Dani Fancher of Skidmore but came up short in a pair of sets, 6-3 and 6-3.
Next up for Union is a match at Albany on Tuesday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
