NEW PALTZ, NY -- Union's women's tennis team won three singles matches but still came up a little short losing to SUNY New Paltz, 5-4 on Saturday.   The team also won one doubles match.

 In the match, Union won at #2 singles, as Hallie Mabrey (Needham, MA/ Dana Hall) was a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 winner in three sets over Liz Beirne.  Brittany Miller (Scituate, MA/ Scituate) was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Jen Larson at #3 singles, and at #4 singles Kathleen Rucci (Schenectady, NY/ Guilderland) was a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 winner in three sets over Lyndsey Louineers. In doubles, Jennie Werts (New York, NY/ Fieldston School) and Jess Meola (Hartsdale, NY/ Ardsley) won thier first doubles match-up 8-6 against Dana Lim and Lindsey Trifelletti.

Dana Lim downed Jennie Werts in three sets 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 at #1, and Kathrine Ketigian took out Abby Cable (Weston, MA/ Buckingham Brown) 6-3, 6-0 at #5 singles.  Also Kerri Serkes beat Jess Meola 7-5, 6-2 at #6 singles.  In doubles, Jen Larson and Kathrine Ketigian of New Paltz beat Hallie Mabrey and Brittany 9-8 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker at #2 doubles, and Liz Beirne and Lyndsey Lovinger got the win over Marla Feldman and Sarah Stiles 8-3 at #3 doubles.

Union competes in their final spring match this Saturday at St. Lawrence at 1pm.
