Union loses close swimming & diving meet to Middlebury, 150-143

SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union men's swimming & diving team lost by only seven at home to Middlebury Saturday, 150-143. The women's team lost to Middlebury today, 193.5 - 106.5 at the Alumni Gym Pool. 

On the men's side, Ian Drillinger won both the one meter dive (197.69) and three meter dive (229.43, over 60 points ahead of the second place finisher). Steve Schapp took first in the 1000 free at 9:51.34, and Lucas Tiziani won the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.62. Alex Boyd won the 50 breast at 29.05 and Kevin Jung took first in the 50 fly at 24.21. Union's relay of Todd Herman, Tiziani, Schapp and Chris Heske won the 200 free relay at 1:28.46.

Winners for the Dutchwomen included Priscilla Wright, who took first in the 50 free with a time of 25.40. Mary Kate Baumann was the victor in the 200 back, clocking at 2:09.27. Wright also was on the first leg of the winning team in the 200 free relay. She joined Erica Fugger, Kaleigh Ahern and Kelly Geary for a victorious time of 1:43.67. 

Union continues a busy weekend Sunday with a meet at Amherst.
