Ithaca tops men's swimming and diving

FINAL RESULTS

ITHACA, N.Y.
- The Union college men's swimming and diving teams fell to Ithaca College on Saturday with a score of 204-96. Despite the loss after a hard-fought meet, several Dutchmen landed in top-three spots in many events throughout the day.

Zach Wahl led Union, winning two events against the Bombers. The sophomore claimed the 200-yard fly with a time of 1:55.76, and finished the 100-yard fly in 52.46 seconds to take first. Junior Matt Wahl trailed his brother with a time of 53.81 for third-place.

Dominating the one-meter board with a score of 304.35, Ian Drillinger finished the season with at least one win per meet for the Dutchmen. The senior also took second-place in the three-meter board with a score of 313.00.

Sophomore Adam Herzog claimed two second-place finishes, swimming in at 10:05.64 in the 1,000-yard free and 5:00.51 in the 500-yard free. Freshman Andrew Welch earned second-place, as well, in the 100-yard back with a time of 54.49 seconds. The rookie also placed third in the 200-yard back with 2:00.41

Several other Dutchmen earned third-place finishes, including Billy Breitweiser. The senior finished the 1,000-yard free in 10:12.47 and swam in at 5:01.96 in the 500-yard free. Sophomore Nicholas Boncek also earned third-place finishes in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard fly. The sophomore swam times of 2:06.04 and 2:00.06, respectively. Senior Alex Boyd took third, as well, with a time of 2:20.31 in the 200-yard breast.

The Dutchmen collectively earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The group of Welch, junior David Sorensen, and the Wahl brothers swam a time of 1:38.57 in the first event of the day.

The Ithaca meet concludes the Dutchmen's 2011-2012 regular season. The UNYSCSA Championships are set to take place February 22-25th.
