SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Union Women's Tennis began its spring campaign with a 9-0 loss to SUNY New Paltz in non-conference action from the Union Tennis Courts.  The match was a makeup of Saturday's rainout.
New Paltz (10-7) opened a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles and never relinguished its hold of the match.  Senior 
Samantha Muratori battled Elizabeth Palmer to three sets at No. 5 singles.  Muratori captured the opening set, 7-5, before dropping the second set, 6-3, and the super tie-breaker, 10-8. Sophomore 
Hayley Lough lost a tough first-set tiebreaker to Laura Tierney at No. 4 singles by a 14-12 count.
The Dutchwomen (5-3) were without the services of No. 3 singles player 
Margaret Oppenheim, who was out with illness.
Union continues its homestand with a Liberty League encounter against RIT next Saturday (April 12) at Noon.
