ORLANDO – The Union women's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches at Sanlando Park on Wednesday.The Dutchwomen opened with a 7-2 loss to Puerto Rico Mayaguez, taking two matches against the NCAA Division II opponent.
Natalia Pronchick and
Mina Hsia won their team-best third doubles match of the season with an 8-6 win over Coralys Colon and Nicole Rosich.
Abby Vickers rallied from a set down to post a 2-6, 7-5, (10-8) win over Ediza Lagares at No. 5 singles.
Shortly thereafter, Union took to the court again in a 9-0 loss to Colby.
The Garnet and White pushed two singles flights to match tie-breakers as
Emily Newman (No. 4) and
Rachel McNeil (No. 6) both won their opening sets in losing efforts. Miller also partnered with
Hayley Lough at No. 3 doubles in a match decided by a tie-breaker (10-8).
The Dutchwomen (2-9) close their spring trip tomorrow against Hamline.
