SAUGERTIES, N.Y. – Union captured its first conference win of the season with a 9-0 decision over Bard indoors at Total Tennis. The match completed a busy week for the Dutchwomen, who played six matches in six days during spring break.
Union won all nine matches in straights sets, winning 72-of-76 games in singles action.
Natalia Pronchick did not drop a game (going 20-0) in sweeping her matches at No. 1 singles and doubles. Classmate
Mina Hsia was flawless as well, posting shutouts at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Junior
Hayley Lough won her match at No. 4 singles to improve to 5-0 lifetime against Bard (in combined singles and doubles).
Abby Vickers won her second doubles match of the week, teaming with
Lena Diller to upend the senior pair of Beryl Taylor and Yuanyuan Xu at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles,
Jessica Maung and
Rachel McNeil won their first collegiate matches.
Union travels to SUNY New Platz next Saturday (April 4).
