Three Dutchmen Earn All-Region Honors by D3baseball.com

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Three members of the Union College baseball team was named to the D3baseball.com All-New Region Team announced on Monday afternoon. Junior Eric Egan was named to First team while sophomore Jake Fishman and freshman Bill Christopher were named to Second Team.

Egan, a First Team All-Liberty League selection, was named as one of three outfielders on the the first team. Egan was one of the top hitters for the Dutchmen in 2015, finishing as one of two Union batters to hit over .400, finishing the year with a .402 average. He was third on the team with 41 hits including a team-high 15 extra base hits. He racked up six doubles, a league-best seven triples and two home runs. Egan led the league in slugging percentage at .657 and had a team-best 19 stolen bases in 24 attempts. In addition, he had one of the nation's longest hitting streaks over the course of the season at 17 games and at one point, hit safely in 27 out of 28 games. 

Fishman, a 2014 D3baseball.com First Team Utility selection, was named to the Second Team this season. Fishman was one of the best hitters in the nation during the 2015 season, finishing fourth in the country and first in the Liberty League with a .477 batting average. He also led the League in ERA at 1.48 which placed him 31st nationally. The First Team All-Liberty League selection had a league-best .543 on-base percentage and allowed a league-low seven earned runs. At the plate, Fishman led the team with 53 hits in 111 at bats to go along with seven doubles and one three-bagger. He scored 26 runs, drove in 23 and stole 10 bases for the Dutchmen. On the mound, Fishman went 4-2 with one save in 42.2 innings, holding opponents to just a .200 batting average to go along with 43 strikeouts and was third in the conference with 18 looking strikeouts. The sophomore pitched a complete game in all six of his starts with two shutouts aginst league foes RPI and St. Lawrence. During the season, Fishman was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once, a two-time honor roll selection and was one of two Dutchmen named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team. 

Christopher, a First Team All-Liberty League selection, was named Union's closer early in the season and strived in the role as a freshman. He led the league with six saves, converting all six opportunities. Christopher posted a sub-1.00 ERA at 0.87 in 10 appearances while racking up 13 strikeouts, allowing just two runs (1 ER) on the season.

Union finished 21-15 during the season, winning 20+ games for the third straight season and just the fourth time in the history of the program.
