2015 Capital One Academic All-District ® Baseball TeamsSCHENECTADY, NY -- The 2015 Capital One Academic All-District ® Baseball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

Jake Fishman and OF
Kent Curran have been selected to the
Academic All-District ® Baseball Team for District 3. They are two of just 12 players selected for the First Team in that region with Fishman as the lone designated hitter and Curran as one of three outfielders.
Fishman carries a a 3.32 GPA in Managerial Economics and a minor in Digital Media. He finished the season ranking fourth in the country, first in the Liberty League, with a .477 batting average. He also led the League in ERA at 1.48. Fishman had a team-high 18 multi-hit games, was second in the league in on-base % and third in hits. As a pitcher, he finished the season second in opposing batting average and was top five in strikeouts, third in strikeouts looking. The Sharon, MA native threw six complete games in six games started including two shutouts against RPI and St. Lawrence and had back-to-back 11 strikeout outings against RPI and Bard (career-highs). He also added his first career save against Castleton St. (4/28). Fishman was selected as League Performer of the Week once and named to the Honor Roll twice this season. Jake also spends time as a certified pitching coach with the National Pitching Association, run by Tom House. He is currently on level three and plans to continue to rise in the NPA.
Curran holds a 3.919 GPA as a dual major in Biology and Spanish and is a member of the Leadership in Medicine program with Union and the Albany Medical College. Curran finished the season with a .333 batting average in 34 games played and racked up 38 hits, for fourth place on the team. He was second on the squad with six doubles, two triples and was fourth with 19 RBIs. The Eden Prairie, MN native finished the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 49 chances. When not spending time on the diamond, Kent spends time as a SAAC member, a chemistry tutor, a council member for Wold Minerva, volunteering at Campus Kitchens and a member of the Catholic Student Association. Previously, Kent shadowed on oncologist at the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis and was published in a case-study for his work during the experience. He has also shadowed five other pediatric orthopedic surgeons and is starting to work with one other Leadership in Medicine student on a health care research project with Professor Huppertz at Union Graduate College. They will analyze Evidence-Based Guidelines in medical care and the variation of its use in practice across the health care spectrum in the United States.
Both Dutchmen and other First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The Academic All-District ® teams include the student-athletes listed on the attached document and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
