SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—Singles wins by
Natalia Pronchick and
Lena Diller and a sweep of doubles lifted the Union College women's tennis team to a 5-4 win against New Paltz on Saturday afternoon at the Union Tennis Courts.
The Dutchwomen, who have won four straight matches, go to 7-5, while the Hawks also move to 7-5.
Union got out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Pronchick and Hsia were 8-4 winners at number one, Haley Lough and
Paige Webster teamed for a 9-8 (9-7) and Diller and
Julianne Loree battled to an 8-6 victory at number three.
Diller extended the Dutchwomen's lead to 4-0, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at number six, but New Paltz charged back, taking number two and number four singles.
Pronchick managed to seal the win for Union, posting a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 victory at number one.
The Dutchwomen take on RIT at 10 a.m., Sunday, April 10 at Turning Stone Casino.
