GENEVA, N.Y.—The Union College women's tennis team was topped by William Smith, 7-2, in its season finale Sunday at the Bristol Field House.
The Dutchwomen, who tied a program record for single-season wins, end the year with an overall record of 9-7 and a 2-5 mark in Liberty League play. The Herons, who will be the fourth seed in the Liberty League tournament, end the regular season with a record of 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
William Smith took a 3-0 lead into singles play when Alex Cattie and Sydney Ferry posted an 8-3 win against Lena Diller and Julianne Loree at No.3 doubles, snapping Diller and Loree's six match doubles win streak.
Loree registered the Dutchwomen's first point of the day, defeating Katarina Kostovic in straight sets at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3. Diller knocked off Connie Froass, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 6, but Hannah More sealed the match for the Herons with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Natalia Pronchick at No. 1.
