LATHAM, N.Y. - The Union College women's cross country team faced off against strong Division I and II competition on Saturday morning at the Siena College Invitational.
The Dutchwomen took sixth place out of seven teams at the event, finishing with 171 points to sit between Division II squads Le Moyne College (162) and the College of Saint Rose (220). Host Siena took five of the top 14 spots to edge out Marist College for the top spot.

Allison Malatesta and first-year
Catherine Dacey led the way for the Dutchwomen finishing in 44th and 45th place, respectively. Malatesta finished the 5K course in a time of 20:57.6, with Dacey crossing the line a few seconds later in 20:59.8.Â

Alayna Gibson and Kacey McGerald rounded out Union's top-five finishers. Virgulto finished in 22:05.0 to lead the pack, followed close behind by Gibson in 22:13.6 and McGerald in 22:17.7. Senior

Caroline Kelly (23:17.7) also had strong runs for the Dutchwomen as well on the day.

After taking a weekend off from competition, te Dutchwomen will get back on the trails on September 25Â when the team travels to the Saratoga Invitational in Saratoga Springs.Â
