WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Junior
Matt Kenvin picked up a big win in the 200-yard breaststroke, but #11 Williams College overpowered the Union College men's swimming and diving team 172-107, Saturday afternoon at Samuelson-Muir Pool.
Kenvin picked up nine points with his win in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing the race in a season-best time of 2:13.97. Kenvin also added a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Union had finishers in second, third, and fourth place. Junior
Andrew Barton (23.30) finished second with a season-best time, while classmate
Zach Matthews (23.39), and
Andre Thornton (23.48) finished third and fourth, respectively. Matthews recorded a personal best in the event and also added a lifetime best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.57.
Junior
Jonathan Osma recorded a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.06.
On the boards, sophomore
Colin Farrell earned a third-place finish in the 3-meter diving with a score of 186.89.
Union is back in action next week with a meet on Friday against St. Thomas (Fla.). The first event is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the MDC North Aquatic and Fitness Center in Miami.
