Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. – The Union College women's tennis team finished up play on day two of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, posting six wins in seven matches at Hamilton College's Tietje Family Tennis Center on Saturday.
Playing in the consolation bracket, senior
Marilena Karadimou won three times to advance to the semifinals. She started her day with a pair of wins over players from William Smith College, defeating Isabelle Goings-Perrot (8-4) in the first round and Haley Levine by the same score in the second round. She then made it three straight wins over conference foes by outlasting Skidmore College's Katherine Almquist, 8-7 (7-2).
Joining her in the semifinals was junior
Gracie Nicol, who won twice in the consolation bracket on Saturday. Nicol knocked off Zoe Davis of Ithaca College by an 8-4 score in the second round before defeating Hamilton College's Claire Cutler, 8-3, in the quarterfinals.
Karadimou and Nicol also went 1-1 in two consolation doubles matches on the day, defeating Stephanie Kim and Jasmin Tor of the University of Rochester, 8-4, before falling to the St. Lawrence University tandem of Catherine Gamble and Molly Jesperson, 8-5.
Union will close out its fall schedule on Friday with a Liberty League match against Skidmore College set for 5 p.m. in Saratoga Springs.
