TROY, N.Y. – For the second time this season, first-year Chara Meidani of the Union College women's tennis team was recognized as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Meidani previously earned conference Rookie of the Week honors on March 20 as part of a Union sweep of the weekly honors.
 
The first-year had another strong week on the courts for Union, posting a 3-0 record in singles play and also earning a key first-doubles win in three matches last week.
 
She started the week with a pair of third-singles wins, earning a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Lorna Flores Gonzalez of #35 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday and then posting a huge comeback to defeat Angelica Aksdal-Jansen of St. Lawrence University on Friday, rattling off seven straight points to erase a 5-0 deficit in the first-set tiebreaker and then cruising to a 6-1 second-set win in Union's 7-2 victory.
 
She then was bumped up a spot in the lineup in both singles and doubles play on Saturday at Rochester Institute of Technology and came away with two wins, taking an 8-6 victory at first doubles alongside classmate Kennedy Alexis before providing the match's clinching point with a 6-3, 6-0 second-singles win over Jackie Drozd.
 
Meidani, who is currently riding a seven-match singles winning streak, is 9-7 in singles play this season, including a 5-1 mark against Liberty League opponents. Her 16 combined victories this year are tied for third-best on the team.
 
Union will close out the regular season with two matches this week, heading to SUNY Oneonta on Thursday at 4 p.m. before hosting Vassar College on Friday at 5 p.m.
