Men's Hockey Announces 2023-24 Schedule

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Head coach Josh Hauge released the 2023-24 schedule for the Union College men's ice hockey team Monday afternoon.

"I'm really looking forward to the 23-24 season and seeing our guys compete," said Hauge. "We have some great teams visiting Messa Rink this season and our away schedule has us in some challenging venues. There's a lot to look forward to this year."

The schedule includes 34 contests with seven non-conference opponents and the other 11 members of ECAC Hockey.

Union opens the schedule with an exhibition game on Oct. 7 against Capital District rival, Rensselaer, the first of four matchups this season. The first regular season game is on Sunday, October 8, with a trip to Army West Point.

The garnet and white head west the weekend of October 13 for a pair of games with Colorado College and a reunion with Kris Mayotte '06. The Tigers knocked off top-ranked Denver in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff, before falling to St. Cloud State in the NCHC Championship.

Union's home opener will be a two-game series with Hockey East foe Connecticut on Oct. 20-21. The Huskies fell in the Hockey East Quarterfinals to UMass Lowell.

"We can't wait to get back in front of our fans at Messa Rink," added Hauge.

Union welcomes Stonehill, one of the newest Division I programs, to Messa Rink on Thanksgiving weekend for a pair of games.

In December, Union will play four non-conference games, all but one on the road. Union hosts Maine in a midweek tilt on December 6 before making the trek to Burlington, Vermont for a pair of games against Vermont. The Dutchmen close out the month with a solo game at Bentley on Dec. 30.

Union rounds out the nonconference schedule with the annual Mayor's Cup game against Rensselaer at MVP Arena on Saturday, Jan. 27. The garnet and white have posted back-to-back shutouts to keep the Mayor's Cup in Schenectady the past two seasons.

Union opens ECAC Hockey play with a home-and-home series with the Engineers on Nov. 3-4 before making the trip to the North Country to face St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The team hosts Princeton and Quinnipiac Dec. 1-2 for the final ECAC Hockey contests of the calendar year.

The back half of the schedule features four straight home games in January with Brown, Yale, Clarkson, and St. Lawrence making the trip to Schenectady beginning on Jan. 7. Union will take one road trip to Dartmouth and Harvard on Jan. 19-20 before the Mayor's Cup on Jan. 27.

Union plays 10 straight league games after the Mayor's Cup, starting with a road trip to Yale and Brown on February 2-3. The team returns home to host Colgate and Cornell on Feb. 9-10 before making the trip south to Quinnipiac and Princeton on Feb. 16-17. The final regular season at home will be against Harvard and Dartmouth on Feb. 23-24. Union closes out the season on the road against Cornell and Colgate on March 1-2.

Information regarding season tickets will be available soon.
