WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Seniors
Charlie Alekson,
Mark D'Alessandro,
Ben Trantanella, and junior
Sam Ahern compiled a strong meet at the Farley Inter-Regional Saturday, continuing impressive outdoor seasons by setting a handful of season and personal bests.
In the 1500, Alekson timed a season best and D'Alessandro set a new personal best. Alekson's 3:52.67 time beat the time he put up at Liberty League Championships a week ago and came within a second of his personal best he set at the RPI Capital District Classic a year ago to finish 11th, while D'Alessandro's 4:09.04 time smashed his previous benchmark he set at the Trinity Invitational in April by over six seconds to cross the line 32nd.
Trantanella followed with a 2024 best in the 800. Trantella's first outdoor time of the season of 1:58.59 outdid the 1:58.79 mark he timed at Pioneer Fast Trax Invite in February, good for 27th.
To finish the day, Ahern picked up Union's top finish. In the 200, Ahern flew to a 21.81-second time, a personal best wind-adjusted clocking, finishing in sixth and two-hundredths of a second outside the top four.
Ahern and Alekson will join a group of teammates gearing up for AARTFC Regionals this upcoming week, set to travel to SUNY Cortland for the event on Wednesday and Thursday.
