Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College women's tennis team finished a busy Saturday at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships and the New Paltz Invitational, with nine Union student-athletes earning at least one win.
 
At the ITA Northeast Regionals, first-year 
Samantha Jacobs picked up a pair of wins to earn a spot in tomorrow's Round of 16. She took a pair of 6-2 sets from St. Lawrence's Yvette Karera in the first round, then knocked off Madison Kirby of Vassar College by a 6-4, 6-2 score in the second round to stay alive.
 
Four Union teammates won once in singles play before falling in the second round. Junior 
Chara Meidani came back to defeat NYU's Siona Vallabhaneni in a supertiebreaker, 2-6, 6-3, (10-6), before falling to Skidmore's Colette Prokop in similar fashion, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, (10-7). Classmate 
Claire Langille swept Geneseo's Natalie Pipes, 6-3, 6-2, to earn her first win before dropping a pair of 6-0 sets to NYU's Victory Wang.
 
Junior 
Sydney Alphabet outlasted Pratt's Beatrice Crespo by a 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, (10-1) margin and sophomore 
Luisa Arizpe-Sierra put a double bagel on Oneonta's Danielle Copp in the opening round, before both players fell in the second round as well.
 
Junior 
Skylar Semon came a supertiebreaker short of joining her teammates in the second round, falling 4-6, 6-1, (10-3) to Katie Yang of Rochester.
 
All three doubles entries fell in the opening round. Meidani and Arizpe-Sierra came the closest to a win, falling 8-5 to Lorna Flores Gonzalez and Nicole Ridenour of RPI.
 
The members of the team that did not head to Saratoga Springs went to New Paltz for the New Paltz Invitational. First-year 
Calista Finkelstein led the team with a perfect 5-0 record on the day, winning her only singles match and all four doubles contests. Classmate 
Scarlet Carrara won three matches while senior 
Paige Tromblee and junior 
Kennedy Alexis won one match each.
 
Finkelstein and Carrara both won their singles matches, with Finkelstein beating New Paltz's Sydney Sladicka, 6-1, and Carrara getting past New Paltz's Alyssa Trokie by a 7-6 (7-4) score.
 
Finklestein won doubles matches with all three Union teammates as part of her undefeated day. She and Carrara bested Elizabeth Ring and Claire Hardy of TCNJ by a 6-1 margin, then teamed with Tromblee in round two to defeat Olivia Eifert and Laina Martinez of New Paltz by the same score. She continued her string of 6-1 wins by teaming with Alexis to defeat New Paltz's Angelica Gabriel and Olivia Kunz, then went back to Carrara for a 6-3 victory over TCNJ's Mandy Fleischmann and Megan Pongrac.
 
Jacobs will be back in action tomorrow as Union closes out the fall schedule at the ITA Northeast Regionals.
