COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Union College men's outdoor track & field team earned six points on the second and final day of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, held at Ursinus College's Patterson Field on Thursday afternoon.
Union finished in a tie for 32nd place among 64 teams competing at the two-day event.
The Garnet Chargers earned points in their final event of the season, taking third place in the 4x800-meter relay to pick up six points. Sophomore
Liam Fitzgibbon put Union in the top-two after the first 800 and the team never dropped below third the rest of the way, as he combined with juniors
Will Bonnette,
Michael Fitzmaurice and
Bretton Garrick to finish in 7:51.01, coming less than a second away from setting a new school record in the event.
Fitzgibbon was also Union's sole individual track entry on the afternoon, finishing his first 800 meters of the day in 1:55.83 to end up just outside the top-10 in 11th place among the 27-runner field.
Senior
Mason Lang represented Union in the field events on Thursday, posting a top distance of 13.32 meters in the shot put to place 21st in his final collegiate event.
