Men's swimming & diving prevail over Middlebury

Billy Phillips was amongst six different Dutchmen swimmers with top finishes in the win against Middlebury.

, N.Y. - The Dutchmen wins their second consecutive dual meet as Union prevailed over Middlebury 154-146 at Alumni Gymnasium Pool Saturday afternoon.
 
In the 200-yard meter relay, the quartet of Andrew Welch, David Sorensen, Billy Phillips and Zack Wahl started the Dutchmen off in a first place finish, clocking in at 1:37.93.
 
Matthew Hellauer has continued his winning ways, taking the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.47. Teammate Matt Wahl took the second spot, being timed at 1:48.46. Hellauer also tallied a first place in the 500-yard freestyle, earning a time of 4:53.82.
 
In the 50-yard backstroke, Andrew Welch contributed to the points total with a top-finish with a 25.19 time. Welch also took the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.55. Sorensen also tallied an individual top finish in the 50-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 28.22.
 
Liberty League Swimmer of the Week Zack Wahl placed first in the 100-yard butterfly taking in a time of 52.37. The junior was also victorious in the 100-yard IM with a sub-minute time of 55.47. Phillps came away with a first-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly, getting under the 25-second barrier with a 24.25 time.
 
On the boards, Jeremy Sagaille and Cameron Robertson took the top two places respectively in the 3mtr. Sagaille was scored with a 259.35 while Robertson tallied a 251.03. Navid Nowrouzi's score of 247.79 earned the freshman a second place finish in the 1mtr.
 
Union will take the road again as they will take on Hamilton College in a dual meet on January 26 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
