CLINTON, N.Y. – The Union College men's track and field team opened the 2022 outdoor season at the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday afternoon from Pritchard Track. The Dutchmen faced off against seven other schools in the non-scoring meet.
Senior
Andrew Fox had an excellent afternoon for the Dutchmen, posting a pair of top-two finishes. The senior won the 200m dash with a time of 22.37 and also finished in second place by clocking a blazing time of 51.26 in the 400m dash.
Sophomores
Ben Trantanella and
Sam Ahern both earned second-place finishes for the Dutchmen on the day. Trantanella took second in the 1500m run with a time of 4:11.5, while Ahern finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 22.48 seconds.
First-year
Chris Brandreth finished in third place in the 400m hurdles, running a 1:04.86.
Junior
Aiden Rowley broke two minutes in the 800m dash, running a time of 1:59.69 and placing fifth overall for the Dutchmen. First-year
Liam Beck ran a 17.60 in the 110m hurdles, finishing in sixth place, and followed up that performance with a 1:05.83 400m hurdle time to crack the top-five.
Union also swept both relays on the day. The 4x100m team of Fox, Ahern, and sophomores
Ryan Hilliard and
Avery Turton finished first with a time of 43.83, while the 4x400m team of Hillard, Trantanella, Rowley and Ahern won as well, crossing the line in 3:34.56.
In the field events, Hilliard jumped into the top five with a distance of 12.33 meter in triple jump.
The Dutchmen are back in action next Saturday, when they travel to the SUNY Cortland Invitational. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
