Day 1 Results
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College men's track and field team took part in day one of the Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday, May 6. The Dutchmen had two athletes qualify for the finals and the AARTFC as well.
Senior
Andrew Fox was one of the Union qualifiers on day one. He qualified in the men's 400m dash, by running a 50.64 in the preliminaries and position himself in a second-place spot for Saturday's final section. Fox will compete at 1:40 p.m. Fox also qualified for the 200m final tomorrow, with a time of 22.76 and a seeding if sixth overall.
First-year
Sam Ahern also qualified for the men's 100m dash final on Saturday. Ahern clocked a 11.08 which is his fastest time of the season for the Dutchmen and positioned himself in the second lane for tomorrow's final race. This time is a new best for Ahern as he squeaked past his old best of 11.10. This time also qualified Ahern for the All Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championship. Ahern will run the final of the 100m dash at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Ahern earned himself a second place finish the 200m dash preliminaries this afternoon, with a 22.29. This time qualifies Ahern for the All Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championship. The 200m final will take place at 3:05 p.m.
Day two of the Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field Championships begins at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, May 7 from Prentiss Sports Complex.
