UTICA, N.Y. – Junior
Jason Bois reset the program record in the 60-meter hurdles and the Union College men's indoor track & field team earned 13 career-best results at the non-scoring Utica Blue and Orange Invitational, held on Saturday at the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center.
Bois led the Union effort with a seventh-place finish in the prelims of the 60 hurdles, crossing the line in 8.46 seconds to best his own program record by one-hundredth of a second. He followed up with a time of 8.51 in the finals to take sixth place overall. The junior also posted a career-best in the high jump, clearing 1.72 meters to place 14th in the 32-person field.
Senior
Sam Ahern took top honors in the invitational portion of the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 21.98 seconds to win the final by .28 seconds. The senior also posted a season-best time of 6.98 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash, taking third place out of 133 runners and coming one-hundredth of a second from matching his own program record.
First-year
Liam Fitzgibbon earned a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:58.62. Junior
Mason Lang also picked up a top-10 finish in the shot put, registering a top mark of 14.26 meters to set a new career high.
Senior
Ryan Russell earned a spot at both the Liberty League Championships and the AARTFC Championships in the 3000 meters, finishing in a career-best 8:39.97 to place 18th out of 70 competitors.
The 4x400 relay took fourth place, as the foursome of Fitzgibbon, sophomores
Jackson Klehr and
Aaron Binion, and first-year
Aidan Bradley ended with a time of 3:38.81.
Union will return to action next weekend, competing at Nazareth University's D-III Elite Meet on Friday and Saturday.
