SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Members of the Union College men's and women's indoor track and field programs will head back to Ithaca College for the 2025 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, hosted at Ithaca's Glazer Arena on Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8.
Union will have nine student-athletes competing in a total of 10 events on the weekend, as the Garnet Chargers look to put up some points and potentially make a run at earning spots at the NCAA Championships.
Senior
Gabby Baker will be the lone Garnet Charger in the sprints, as she takes part in the 400-meter dash. The senior is seeded 27th after setting a new career standard by finishing in 1:00.25 at the Liberty League Championships last weekend. Sophomore
Annabel Dobash will represent Union in the distance events, as she is seeded 14th in the 3,000 meters after a season-best time of 10:31.58 at the D-III Elite Meet last month.
The women will have three runners in the mid-distance events. First-yearÂ
Kyleigh Record is seeded sixth in the 800 meters after a career-best time of 2:17.73 at the Liberty League Championships, and she will be joined by classmate
Bethel Flanagan, who is seeded 30th after a top time of 2:23.11 last weekend. Senior
Cat Dacey will be running the mile this weekend and is seeded ninth, looking to better her program record of 5:05.54 that she set back in December at Utica. The three runners will also be joined by Baker to compete in the distance medley relay, with the quartet looking to improve on its program-record time of 12:18.34 at the D-III Elite Meet that is third-best among AARTFC competitors this weekend. The DMR currently ranks 24th in Division III heading into the final weekend before NCAA Championships.
Sophomore
Ashley Sheldon will compete in a pair of events for Union. She is seeded third in the high jump after a season-best clearance of 1.64 meters to take second at the Liberty League Championships, and she also will run in the 60-meter hurdles, looking to improve on a season-best time of 9.49 seconds that seeds her 25th. Sheldon's high jump mark currently ranks 35th in the country, just inches away from potentially making a return trip to nationals with a good result this weekend.
The Union men will have three individuals competing on the weekend. Senior
Ben Neff is the team's top-seeded entry, as he sits 14th in the mile after finishing in 4:19.24 at the Liberty League Championships last weekend. Junior
Jason Bois will enter the 60-meter hurdles as the 22nd seed after breaking his own program record again with a time of 8.46 seconds at the conference championships. First-year
Aidan Bradley also will make his first appearance at regionals in the 400-meter dash, looking to improve on his season-best time of 51.60 seconds set back in January in Utica.
The men's best chance at making nationals actually will not be competing at regionals. Senior
Sam Ahern enters the weekend 17th in Division III in the 200-meter dash after a time of 21.93 seconds at the D-III Elite Meet last month, but he will be resting up in the hopes that his time holds up to make the NCAA Championships at the end of the weekend. The senior would have been seeded second in the 200 and sixth in the 60-meter dash if he were in the field.
