Men's Track & Field Competes at Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Union College men's outdoor track & field team tied for 10th at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday with six top-10 performances.

The distance team showed out with seven PRs across three events. Sophomore Liam Fitzgibbon led the way with third-place finish and the 66th-best 800-meter run time in Division III this season, crossing the finish line in 1:53.68. Juniors Michael Fitzmaurice (1:57.03) and Will Bonnette (1:57.24) also PR'ed the event, finishing .21 seconds apart in 10th and 11th place, respectively.

Junior Bretton Garrick (4:04.23), first-year Greg Keane (4:11.23), and first-year Alex Colangelo (4:12.39) all secured personal-bests in the 1,500-meter run, and junior Ben Pistiner ran his fastest 5,000-meter race with a 16:07.16 placing fifth.

Union had three top-10 performances in the field events, led by a 47.60m javelin throw and a 44.96m hammer throw from senior Mason Lang. He placed seventh in the javelin and eighth in the hammer. Senior Nick Entner (45.41m) placed 10th in the javelin.

Sophomore Aidan Bradley (51.80) and senior Aidan Savitt (51.95) registered season-best times in the 400-meter dash, and while none of Union's 100-meter entries qualified for finals, junior Aaron Binion led two of his other teammates with a 11.55 time in the sprint event.

The Garnet Chargers will compete in their final meet before the Liberty League championships on Friday, April 24 at the RPI Capital District Classic.
