SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College men's and women's indoor track and field teams will head to Ithaca College for the 2025 Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at Ithaca's Glazer Arena on Friday, February 28, and Saturday, March 1.

On the men's side, senior Sam Ahern will look to replicate his championship showing from a year ago, when he swept the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash titles. He set the school record in the 60 final with a time of 6.97 seconds, and finished the 200 in 22.11 seconds. So far this season, Ahern is one-hundredth off his 60 pace with a top mark of 6.98 at Utica's Blue & Orange Invitational in early February, and he reset his own program standard in the 200 with a time of 21.89 seconds at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic at the end of last month. He enters the postseason ranked first in the Liberty League and 15th in Division III in the 200 meters, putting him on the cusp of qualification for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Ahern also owns the second-fastest 60 time in the conference heading into the weekend.

In addition to Ahern, several other Garnet Chargers are poised to make a run at All-Conference honors. Sophomore Nate Okwaning joins Ahern in the 60 and 200 dashes, and enters the weekend ranked fifth in the Liberty League in the 60, giving Union two of the top-five spots. After earning All-LL second-team honors a year ago, junior Jason Bois looks to improve on his program-record time in the 60 hurdles of 8.46 seconds that he set at the Blue & Orange Invitational, a mark that is second-best among conference runners this season. In addition, junior Mason Lang enters the weekend seeded third in the shot put after a career-best mark of 14.26 meters at the Blue & Orange Invitational.

On the women's side, sophomore Ashley Sheldon looks for a repeat performance in the high jump after winning the conference title on the way to Co-Rookie of the Year honors as a first-year. She enters the weekend ranked 40th D-III in high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters at last weekend's Utica Fast Trax Invitational that ranks second in the Liberty League so far this season. Sheldon will be competing in both the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles this weekend, as she looks to better her own program records in each event.

In addition to Sheldon, first-year Kyleigh Record and senior Cat Dacey are seeded third and fourth in the 800 meters, while Dacey also is the fourth seed in the mile. Both runners ran the fastest 800 meters of their careers at the D-III Elite Meet two weeks ago, finishing in 2:19.54 and 2:20.17, respectively. Dacey set a program record in the mile at the Utica Holiday Classic in December, finishing in 5:05.54. Sophomore Annabel Dobash also is seeded seventh in the 5,000 meters after breaking the program record with a time of 18:57.43 at Utica in December. In addition, the women's distance medley relay looks to make some noise after shattering the school record at the D-III Elite Meet on February 14, posting a time of 12:18.34 that currently ranks 14th in Division III.
