Athletics Hall of Fame
Under the guidance of legendary head coach Art Lawrence, the 1965 Union Baseball team went 15-2 overall and captured the NCAA Atlantic Coast Championship, defeating Old Dominion 3-1 in the championship game. Lawrence was named the District Coach of the Year and featured key players such as seniors Gary Brown and Rick Crookes. The Dutchmen knocked off Colby College 5-2 in the semi-finals before squaring off against Old Dominion in the final, held at Yankee Stadium. Other members of the team were Ed Burns, Ron Cherinko, Bruce Fike, Randy Kuhl, Bob McAdams, Larry McDonald, Art Marshall, Greg Olson, Nick Renchkovsky, Bill Toth, Rich Erdoes and Frank D'Allaird.
