Charlie Morrison took over a men's hockey program in a difficult time in 1978 and turned the team into a contender, helping to pave the way in the transition from NCAA Division III to Division I. Morrison led the Dutchmen to three straight NCAA tournaments including  the DIII Championship Game in 1983-84, and ranks second all-time with 122 career victories. However, Charlie Morrison's contributions to Union go farther than his team's accomplishments on the ice. Morrison put family and academics first before hockey and molded scores of young, energetic hockey players into grown men and one big family. Many members of that family returned as the 1983-84 team was inducted as well. Morrison passed away on April 9, 1988 while on a recruiting trip in Ottawa, Ontario.
